It is Blue Eyes’ birthday today. Yep, he made it another year. Astonishing. 😉
And in even bigger news, we have a new master bathroom. Yippee!!!
October 1996 (before move in and first remodel):
Before, photo taken February 2010 (after having lived with the “new” bath for almost 14 years):
A few of the reasons we wanted a new bath… inexpensive cabinetry (on the left, not the Stickley straight ahead) with drawer & door hardware no longer working well, chipped tiles, old grout, dated decorative tile, bad lighting, too large tub, too small shower, scuffed Marmoleum flooring, poor space planning/layout, toilet in need of replacing.
New bath remodel is complete, October 23, 2015:
New bath includes everything we wanted: high end cabinetry with soft glide drawers and easy access to power, luxurious Calacatta marble counter top, big shower with double heads and a bench, beautiful free standing tub, practical tile on the floor and shower, a fancy Japanese style toilet seat with warm spray, heated seat that glows in the dark, remote control operation (Happy Birthday Blue Eyes), open floor plan (bathroom is not large), lots of really great lighting. The only thing we are still waiting for is the small tear drop chandelier for over the tub… only because I sent the first one back, it was too large.
Time to crack open the champagne, oh wait, we have to leave in an hour for my sister’s wedding… Sunday night will be all about the bathroom!
Very serene and spa-like…beautiful!

How was the wedding?

The wedding was really sweet. Beautiful location, lovely weather. It started pouring rain during the indoor reception, so no harm done. They somehow made a boy scout camp mess hall luxurious!?! Food was pretty good, pulled pork sliders with slaw, jalapeño mac and cheese, cornbread, barbecued chicken. They had maybe six different kinds of cupcakes. They even had banana with whipped cream frosting for Blue Eyes, chocolate/chocolate mousse with whipped marshmallow topping for Sammy, and white cake, raspberry filling and wedding cake white frosting for me (my one true love that isn’t chocolate: white wedding cake!). No complaints here. Better than expected. As predicted, my colorful dress was the only patterned clothing worn by anyone in my family. 🙂

Ha, my sister looked very pretty too ;). My boots were a big hit. They are amazing faux fur lined brown suede, Aquaitalia, made in Italy… I’m in love with them and may never take them off! I was having such a difficult time transitioning from sandals to closed toe shoes (we have to do that out here) until I put these on. ❤

I must have you travel with me everywhere as my personal “voice of optimism and high self esteem.” I bet Oprah has one of those.

Love it. Way more spacious and that shower is a killer. (I’m a shower person not bath lover.) But the tub is cute.

I am not usually a bathroom person, BE is bathroom obsessed. In and out of there for me, but this bathroom, I might stick around and enjoy it. The shower is HUGE compared to the old one. We’re in love with it.
